7 advice and tips

Once you’ve downloaded a few dozen books to your Kindle, it’s hard to keep everything organized. Sorting through hundreds of titles to find what you’re looking for isn’t fun, which is why organizing your Kindle books is important.

By deleting, filtering, sorting, and using collections, you can make it easier to find the book you’re looking for. Here’s how to organize your Amazon Kindles in a few simple steps.

1. Remove Kindle Books you don’t need

. Because digital books are stored in your Amazon account, you can always get them back after deletion.

From the Home screen, tap Your library in the upper left corner to see a list of your books. Scroll through the list until you find the book you want to delete. Maybe tap Sort button in the upper right corner, and then select List or grid depending on your opinion.

Tap and hold the title or cover image, depending on your current view. You can also press the three-point button that appears to the right of the book’s title in list view or in the lower-right corner of the cover in grid view.

From there it just hit Remove from the device take the book out of your Kindle library. Note that it says “delete” and not “delete”. This is because you can return the book later.

Recover Deleted Books

Even after you delete books from your Kindle, they still appear All the title of your library. To hide them, just change downloaded tab. This only shows the books on your device, making it easier to manage your library.

2. Sort your Kindle books

When sorting title, authoror recent, all books in the collection will still appear in the main library list. No matter how many collections you have, these sorting methods will always show you all your Kindle books.

However, sorting by collection is different. Your collections will appear at the top of the list, and all books that do not belong to the collection will appear below them. If you decide to use collections to organize your books, this is definitely the best view.

3. Filter by document type

You will also see in your library a Filter button at the top. This allows you to display only certain types of content to further organize your Kindle system.

You probably won’t need to use all of these unless you have a wide variety of media on your Kindle.

4. Take advantage of Kindle collections (folders)

Once you’ve created your collection, the Kindle will prompt you to add books to it. Just check the boxes next to the books you want. This list is sorted alphabetically by title, but if you want something different, you can use Sort and Filter menus at the top to change your order. Hit Made at the bottom when you’re done.

To add individual books to the collection later, tap and hold the title or cover, and then select Add to collection. Tap the box to the right of the collection to which you want to add the book (select multiple if necessary) and press Made when you’re ready. Because you can add a single book to as many different collections as you want, they can also act like tags.

To return to the multiple-choice tool later, open the collection from your library. From there, open the three-point menu in the upper right corner and select Add / remove items. You can also use this menu to rename the collection, delete it from your device, or delete it completely.

Repeat the steps above to create as many collections as you want. How to organize your Kindle library is up to you. Maybe you can categorize books based on whether you want to re-read them, whether you want to share them, or the like.

5. Search your Kindle library

Even when your Kindles are well organized, there can be situations where you can’t jump directly to what you’re looking for. In these cases, it is faster to use the search bar in the upper right corner of the Kindle. Just start by typing the title or author of the book and you will see an immediate list of results.

The products that appear with the book icon are on your Kindle product, while the search terms next to the cart are looking for you in the Kindle Store. You can also choose Search everywhere option at the bottom to see results from your library, Kindle store, Goodreads, and more.

6. Use reading lists

Another handy organization tool for your Kindle devices is the Reading Lists feature. While this won’t help you find a book you bought years ago, it’s a great way to remind yourself of the books you want to read next. faucet your reading to open the Kindle home page in the upper right corner.

Due to the connection between Amazon and Goodreads, you will see both Goodreads Wants to read list and items on the Amazon wish list directly on your Kindle. This page also shows all the samples you have downloaded to your Kindle. There’s a good chance your reading list isn’t under control either, but that’s another story.

7. Change your organization’s settings in Kindle Settings

Although the Kindle Settings menu isn’t comprehensive, you can make a few changes to your Home screen layout. faucet settings upstairs, then All settings to access the full menu. Go from there Device settings> Advanced settings and select Home and library.

Here you can disable Home screen to hide the main page with your reading lists and recommendations. Disabling it means you are moving to the right Library Show instead.

The other option is Audible content. This allows you to choose between two options for displaying audiobooks on your Kindle. View in the library and at home displays audiobooks everywhere, just like regular books.

Change this to Show only in library filter hide them from view unless you select audible filter in your library, as mentioned above. They will also appear normally if you have downloaded an audiobook to your Kindle. This can help reduce clutter if you own a lot of audiobooks.
