How to use an animated GIF wallpaper in Windows 10

Video wallpapers can be quite extreme. Most of us prefer static high definition wallpapers and love to download them in bulk. But there is a third type of wallpaper: GIF wallpaper.

On smartphones, it’s easy, but Windows doesn’t support it naturally, so we need to rely on workarounds.

Rainmeter is one of the most popular desktop customization software. While it can be used to set an animated GIF wallpaper in Windows, the process is complicated for the new user.

So let’s move on to simpler software to do the work for us.

Plastuer can help you install GIFs, videos, and HTML5 web pages as wallpaper. It is a standalone program that does not need to be installed. Plastuer is also a donation program where you pay only what you want (at least $ 2 for PayPal payments) and download an 82MB file.

There is no free trial, so buy it for any amount you know and try it.

The software uses WebGL and Open Source Chromium to animate on the desktop.

Extract the downloaded Plastuer package and click on the program icon.

The software supports multiple monitors. At startup, it detects the number of screens and allows you to choose which screens.

  • Click to choose a file option to select a GIF file from your computer.
  • Alternatively, you can choose Browse the gallery choose a GIF from the official gallery.

BioniX video wallpaper animator

BioniX has a number of small wallpaper management software. The all-in-one software is called BioniX Desktop Wallpaper Changer. 250 unique features can add many more enhancements to your desktop than setting GIF or AVI wallpapers.

For example, you can also project a web feed such as a wallpaper.

Instead of downloading the entire package, you can also download one of the individual tools. In the moving GIF wallpaper we use Video Wallpaper Animator.

The developer uses the “GIF Wallpaper Animator” mark alternately. The software does not need to be installed and can also run from a USB drive. But the best part about the software is its low RAM and CPU footprint.

Download the executable file and run it as an administrator.

The installation screen prompts you to select a destination folder. You can choose to run it from a USB drive or from any Windows folder.

choose Video Wallpaper tab. Browse to the directory where the GIF wallpapers are located. When a folder is selected, it automatically lists all supported files.

In the list of supported files, select the GIF animated file that you want to use as your wallpaper. Click to start button to play the animated GIF wallpaper on the Windows desktop.

From the same screen, you can check the CPU usage and set the animation speed.

It is simple software with a few limitations. You can only use one GIF file at a time, not a carousel of GIF wallpapers that change at intervals. To do this, go to the BioniX Desktop Background Switcher.

But if you want to keep it simple, this portable app is ideal.

Do you make your own GIF wallpapers?

One of the easiest ways to make your own animated GIF wallpaper is to start with a video. GIF tools, such as Giphy’s GIF maker, can Convert videos to animated GIFs.

Alternatively, you can download them from the following sites:

However, keep in mind that animated wallpapers can eat up your computer’s CPU to produce graphics. The richer the animation, the more resource hungry it is.

But if you have a video card and enough system memory (at least 4GB), GIFs and video wallpapers are a nice accessory for your desktop. You can then run at full throttle with these live wallpapers and animated background programs
