Top 8 Free Streaming News Channels to Watch Online

One of the biggest drawbacks to canceling cable TV has traditionally been the availability of news from other sources. Of course, if you pay for Sling TV or Hulu + Live TV, you get some 24-hour news channels in the package. However, watching free streaming news channels has not always been easy.

Fortunately, the situation has changed in recent years. And a lot of free news channels are now available for streaming. Some are provided by global newsletters, while others are applications by niche news collectors. So with that in mind, here are the best free streaming news channels you can watch today.

Newson application

Available: Roku, Amazon Fire, Android TV, Apple TV and Chromecast

NewsON is a news service based in the United States, and the app is only available within American borders. Its main focus is on local news around the country.

It currently offers more than 170 local stations in 113 U.S. cities, reaching 84 percent of the population.

Initially, seven owners of the largest television stations in the United States supported the application (ABC-owned television stations, Cox Media Group, Hearst Television, Media General, and Raycom Media, Hubbard Broadcasting, and Sinclair Broadcasting). Unfortunately, ABC withdrew its channel from the service in January 2020.

You can choose the News Categories that interest you, and then enjoy a continuous feed of news broadcasts and clips that match your preferences. You can also watch 170-channel live feeds for a more traditional news experience.

Available: Roku, Amazon Fire, Android TV, Apple TV and Chromecast

Instead of acting as an intermediary for existing online news channels, Newsy creates its own content. Its main topics are world news, politics, science and health, entertainment, technology, business and sports.

The company takes a short-term approach to the news – you won’t find lengthy investigation pieces or in-depth analysis. It only takes the biggest headlines of each day and divides them into fused two- or three-minute pieces.

Once you’ve selected your favorite category and app, Newsy will continue to stream short videos that you can watch. It gives you a “low-fat” TV viewing experience that is often sorely lacking in wire cutting.

Newsy is also proud of his lack of bias, which is rare in the general media. It is designed to cover several aspects of each story, giving you a balanced and fair presentation. Only you can judge whether the allegations of impartiality are correct.

Available: Amazon Fire, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, LG TV and Samsung TV

Haystack uses big data to provide a personal free news channel. Yes, you can add your own preferences to the app, but the company has a broader algorithm that determines which videos it should show you.

The algorithm grabs thousands of user-created data points every day and uses them to create real-time graphs of interest. It divides graphs by world, local, and thematic content. The charts are then correlated with your profile and the app suggests breaking down stories and topics that you think will interest you.

If you want to give your business access to your Facebook or Google Account when you sign in, the recommendations will get better.

Topics and titles can vary from very narrow in general depending on how strange your interests are. But in the end, the end result is an endless news feed you love. Most videos are three to five minutes long.

YouTube news categories

Available: Roku, Amazon Fire, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Plex, most game consoles and the Web

You may be surprised to see the YouTube list, but it deserves more than its place. News feeds automatically generated by the site are a rich source of free content.

Start by going to the main news channel, where you will find seven other subcategories. They are sports news, entertainment news, company news, science and technology news, world news, national news and health news.

Click on any topic that interests you, hover your mouse over the mouse pointer The best stories icon and click Play all. You can now relax and enjoy several hours of continuous content from the largest providers in your country.

Best of all, there’s so much stuff on YouTube that you never have to watch the same report twice. If you come back tomorrow, you will have a fully updated set of videos to enjoy.

Plex news

Available: Roku, Amazon Fire, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox, PlayStation and selected smart TVs.

Plex added news to its software by purchasing a free streaming news channel, Watchup, in 2017. The app is now fully integrated into Plex’s interface.

That means Plex can collect news from more than 190 different publishers, including CNN, Bloomberg, CBS Interactive, PBS, Euronews, FOX News, Sky News and the Financial Times. As you watch stories, you can add topics to your favorites list to make the recommendations more personal over time.

You can still customize your content by selecting your preferred locations, sources, and more. Plex news is available for free, so you do not need a Plex Pass

Sky News is one of the world’s largest distributors of free live news. It has apps available for all leading platforms and you can tune in even if you live outside the UK. The content is a mix of ongoing news and independent news themes.

The channel was often accused of bias in the 1990s and 2000s owned by Rupert Murdoch and later FOX. Today, it is owned by Comcast and is now the UK’s prestigious “Royal Television Society News Channel of the Year”.

If you do not want to download the standalone application, you can do so streaming Sky News app for free on YouTube.

Bloomberg TV

Available on: Android, iOS, Android TV, Apple TV, YouTube, Roku and Web

Bloomberg is hard to beat if you want up-to-date business and financial news. It lacks the bias of the FOX business and the sensationalism of CNBC. It is also the only one of the three that can be streamed for free over the network.

The channel is divided into three separate subchannels – Bloomberg (from the US), Bloomberg Europe (from London) and Bloomberg Asia (from Hong Kong) – which are on the air on different days.

Other “Bloomberg” channels that do not fall into the above three are just the Bloomberg name through a franchise agreement. Which means you might not find a live stream from them.

In addition to the dedicated app and YouTube Stream, you can also stream Bloomberg for free on certain the best streaming TV services
