What is Google Meet and how does it work?

Google Meet is a video conferencing service from Google. It is a great solution for both individuals and businesses to meet for voice and video calls. It was born from Google Hangouts, but it has some unique features.

This article looks at the Google Meet event, which explains what Google Meet is and how it came about Google Hangouts. We’ll also explore the best features of Google Meet and explain how to create or join a Google Meet.

Google Meet is available at network, and phones and tablets Android and iOS.

Google Meet is designed primarily as a way to host video meetings. However, you can turn on the camera and microphone independently, so you can only use it for voice calls if you want.

You can create occasional calls and invite your friends and family. They can join by entering your meeting code or you can send them a link they click on.

One of the best things about Google Meet is that you don’t have to install any programs on your desktop. All participants (organizer and participants) in the call only need to use the modern browser.

Google Meet vs. Google Hangouts vs. Google Chat

Google Hangouts vs. Google Meet

Google is known for several chat services that all seem to do the same. It changes the name of the services frequently or stops them, which leads to even more confusion.

Google Hangouts is a video and communications platform. Google Hangouts was split into Hangouts Meet and Hangouts Chat, which were then converted back to Google Meet and Google Chat.

All three services – Google Hangouts, Google Meet and Google Chat – are separate and still exist. There’s also the Google Duo (guide to Duo and Allo

). However, Google will stop Google Hangouts at some point, even if we don’t know the exact date.

If you want to set up a video meeting for multiple people, use Google Meet. If you want to chat with someone in person, either via video call or text, use Google Hangouts or Google Chat. See our list Google Hangouts tips

What are the best features of Google Meet?

Google Meet features

With the free plan, Google Meet will support meetings of up to one hour, although they have been extended to 24 hours until September 30, 2020.

You can create and join as many meetings as you want, so nothing will stop you from having another meeting if you reach the hour limit.

Up to 100 participants can be in the same meeting. As a meeting organizer, you can mute other people, which you may want to do if your meetings reach the same size.

Google Meet does its best to filter out all background noise that is not speech. It also has a real-time caption that automatically subtitles people’s message – it’s pretty reliable and has excellent usability.

You can also share the screen with all parties to the call. This can be either a specific window or the entire desktop, and it also works on mobile devices.

Finally, Google claims that “video conferencing is encrypted during transmission” and that “our security measures are constantly updated for added security”. Business users get enterprise-class security, but for the average user, the privacy settings are great.

How much does Google pay for?

Google Meet is free for everyone to make and join calls. All you need is a Google Account (which you have if you use Gmail), but it’s also free.

However, some Google Meet features are only available through a paid G Suite subscription. This costs $ 10 / active user / month. G Suite is for business users and is Google’s suite of collaboration and productivity applications
