Spotify has officially released a new feature called Group Session. With Spotify, you can listen to music with friends so everyone can control what you play. This prevents one person from controlling all song selections.
As good as Spotify is, its usefulness is limited when listening to music with friends. Like at the party

, for example. One person is responsible for choosing what to play and when to play. However, a group session means that it is no longer a problem.
How to start a Spotify group session
A group session allows multiple people to listen to music together with Spotify, and everyone in the session can control what and when is played. And to start a Spotify group session, all you have to do is share the unique Spotify code:
- Open Spotify and play the song.
- Tap Available equipment icon in the lower left corner.
- Find your code in “Start a group session”.
Scan someone else’s Spotify code:
- Open Spotify and tap Search button.
- Tap Camera icon in the upper right corner.
- Point to your phone’s Spotify code.
Once you have either scanned someone else’s code or someone else has scanned your code, you will be connected to a group session. Which means you can now play, pause, and skip songs all, and add new songs to a shared playlist.
The group session has actually been in testing for some time, but is now being introduced in beta. The group session is only available to Spotify Premium users, but includes family and student users. If you can’t start a group session, try updating Spotify.
